which one is better?

what colors are available for sand?

i would like to get black gravel for my tank, but am thinking of sand?

any down sides, easy to clean?


and does anyone know anything about under gravel filtration?

Personal preference, neither is better.

Black, brown and white are the most common.

Depends on who you ask. Some say easy, some say hard to clean.

Under gravel filtration is ancient technology and is not generally recommended.

I just switched to Pool Filter Sand. Here's a thread with the pics.

But I only did it this week. So I'm not sure about long term cleaning or water quality.

But I was using the python to change the water after filling it the first time.
I could push the python down into the sand and only the lighter finner bits and sand and dust was getting sucked up. It's very heavy and seems to be easy to clean.
