RIGHT HERE
WHere do I get this light colored sand I see everybody have.
I dont want the brown I want the almost white color. Any suggestions?

Alot of people here use pool filter sand...very light tan and very clean. Pool supply sealers and sometimes home depots. This is NOT the sane as play sand or blasting sand.

I used the playsand at home depot, very cheap but very dirty. You would have to rinse a bunch, sounds like the pool filter sand would be a better go for you.

I agree. I bought 200lbs for my 150 gallon and did not rinse it first :screwy:
everytime I to water changes and some substrate stirring, it looks like skim milk for about 24 hours. this was the first week I could still see the back of my tank after I was done. I only spent $30 bucks so I'll just have to wash it first next time. The first time I set it up I spent $200 dollars for Tahition Moon sand (black fine) and about died after I found out I could use play sand.

Pool filter sand is awesome IMO. It's what I use in all of my sand bottom tanks.

Here is a pic of one of my tanks with pool filter sand. I didnt rinse it, and it never clouds the water. $6 for 50lbs

If you use the "Super Natuarls" by carib sea,i think just the White, the Tahitian Moon is Heavier, then i Guarantee that you will find NO WAY of keeping the sand out of the filter impellers.I have tried all variations of this with surface intakes for my filters!!That kind of sand is synthetic, and for this reason it is Super fine.It becomes water-borne at the slightest tomfoolery from a fish.I have done evrything from Huge foam blocks on the intakes to Quadruple-wraped pantyhose, the "sand" still gets picked up.........Bottom line,HEAVY SAND!!Pool filter sand which is ground up Quartz is supreme for a sand bottom tank.No Water-borne particles after proper rinsing.Never tried playground sand, but it looks heavy.

The stuff I get is quartz
Aquaquartz is the name I think. I have rays on my pool filter sand, so I'm guessing it's ok for most bottom dwellers:)
