Sand?

Wher do you guys buy your sand. I cant find any good looking sand anywhere.

I buy and use Play Sand from any hardware store...Osh, Home Depot, Menards...
Or Pool Filter Sand from any pool supply store.... one of them being Leslies Pool Supply

I don't think so, just your basic playground looking sand... But I'm sure someone with more knowledge about sand will comment soon.

I recently set up a 125G FW and put 150lbs of white filter sand into the tank with little problems. It was fairly cheap.. $8 per 50lbs bag at my local pool store. The only problems i have had so far was a slight cloudiness to the water immediately after adding the sand. A water change and several days of filtration cleared it right up. Good Luck

You can also try a rock quarry. They usually have different types of sand that you can choose from. Just make sure you clean the sand really good.

I use the black Tahitian moon sand in several tanks.
I have a tank with playsand wich can be stirred up into flters easily if the intakes are too low but it looks great. My favorite is the Estes Ultra Reef sand but it's kind of expensive. It's a good non-abrasive sand for rays.

i like the heavy estes brand sand. dont worry about it getting into and ruining parts on my HOB's

I get my pool filter sand from Menards, its called "Handy Sand" it less than $5.

so all these sands are ok for freshwater?
