Which do you think will bring out the natural color of my wild discus better, black or white? I'm not sure what to go with.

I'd go with black..

But before you go with that, what color is your discus'?

Natural brown; right now I just have heckel's but I'm also getting some green tefe and/or rio purus. I've only ever used gravel so I'm not sure which way to go with the sand color.

Discus typically tend to display their color according to their surroundings. I'd go with white.......

I use white sand in my wild Discus. They look better, and white sand is their natural habitat in the Amazon. I use white sand and LOTS of driftwood...just like in nature...Bill

Black! They live waters with a great deal of vegetation and debris on the bottom, plus black will give them a greater since of security, bring out their colors, and just looks better; IMO.

This is true, they will look darker with black sand.

Thanks for the info! Still not sure, seems like there are some varied opinions, but I still have time to think about it.

There is no way to increase a color of fish . not sand also . it just improve the visiblity of colour . for ex. if you choose black it darken colour and white lightens the colour . so whatever you choose , mind the contrast with colour of fish .
