I just got a 110 gal and am currently working on getting the stand ready to stain. Had some water marks and I'm trimming it out. Anyway....It came with about 4" gravel (I know too much). It's a nice brown but I'm concerned it may be a bit coars for SA/CA cichlids from what I'm reading. I read good and bad on both but if it was you would you go gravel or sand if you were starting up a new aquarium? I really like that Tahitan Moon sand but man is it expensive.

Pool filter sand is great, you can get 50 lb bags really cheap... only downside is you have to wash it a good amount.
Think I'm going to end up going with pool sand. Can't justify the price difference for the black and I saw some photos of pool sand in setups and it looked pretty nice. Going to look around and see if I can find the darker tan style and I'll be happy.
