Hello all. I am starting purchasing my 2500 gallon shark build(don't worrry, a 12,500 is in the making). I need sand now. I don't want to pay $.60 a pound for sand from petco for 2500 lbs worth, lol. Please refer me to the best bulk sand(preferably live, doesn't have to be), provider. I would also like an estimate for 2500 lbs of sand. I really couldn't find any reputable dealers, while I was searching yesterday. Thanks guys!

Joe

When I bought the sand for my 1200 gallon tank, I wasn't able to beat my local fish stores price, The only problem with my lfs was I had to pay sales tax and in Illinois its ridiculous. I called many online places but the shipping kept killing there price. If you have any lfs in your area i would check with them first and I'm not talking about places like petco but lfs that are privately own, they usually can get the best deals. I also get my salt through my local dealer, you can usually get pretty good deals when you buy large quantities.

also I wouldn't be to worried about using live sand unless you just absolutely want to, If you add any cured live rock at all it will seed your sand.

If your in new york drive to the coast, and take some sand off the beach. It will be worth it.

Steal sand?? Is that legal? Also, I can get 1 ton of sand straight from the carribean for $800 shipped, good deal? LMK. Thanks.

thats less than 50 cents a pound, is it live sand? I would'nt use any sand from the beach unless you are going to really clean it, contaminates for sure.
