Hello all, I'm in beautiful Sanibel island and have seen a few ditches with some cichlids in them... Does anyone know what kind of cichlids mainly live around fort myers/ sanibel?

plenty of CA/SA cichlids are now living in Florida waters; some cichlids I have seen or heard of being common are:

Mayan, Oscar, Midas, Peackock bass, Port Acara, Jaguar, JD, etc. . . . in my area, the most common are the Mayan and the Porta Acara (c. bimaculatum)

That's what's common around there :)

Off topic, but sanibel is an awesome place :D

Yeah I am north of there but I have been few times, never noticed the chiclids.... then again I wasnt there fish hunting lol. IT is a BEAUTIFUL place I love Sanibel Island!!!!

Awesome spot..dont tell too many people. Any updates on what you see or find would be great. Was down there a yr ago and did some fishing, not in any canals or ponds though. Would have preferred that but was just messing around on the beach.
