Sanitizing Driftwood???

I have pretty good access to the banks of the Mississippi River near Memphis, TN, and there are plenty of good looking pieces, hunks, and logs of driftwood all over the area. I'd love to put it in one of my tanks, or to even share them with members here at MFK of course, but one prob. How am i supposed to sanitize a big hunk of wood? I can bleach the wood to kill bacteria, but what about any oil or the rest of the gunk from the Mississippi??

After bleaching you could soak in 1cup/10g salt/water solution keep changing the water as it gets dark,thats what you do to get tannins out of bogwood I dont know about collecting wood fro polluted sources doesnt sound like a good idea

you could also boil it in hot water for a few hours to accelerate the leaching out process...

lets it sit outside in the sun and dry out for a few weeks.
