I recently bought some silk plants from Petco. Idk how many dirty hands have touched them before me. How can I sanitize them? I've read soap isnt good for silk plants, and obviously bleach is a no go.

I just rinse them in hot water. You can make a mild bleach solution to dip them in or a bucket of water with potassium permanganate, but it’s probably overkill. Unless they were in an infected tank with ich or something, rinsing should be adequate.

Are you worried about your health or the fishes health?

There is almost unlimited choice for fish sterilisation. Leaving them in sunlight for ten minutes (UV), mouthwash, hydrogen peroxide, chlorinated tap water, household disinfection chemicals, salt solution, etc. Nothing wrong with soaps either.

Just rinse off before putting in tank.

If you are worried about yourself just wear gloves when handling them.

if you are worried about the fish then put them in an empty buck t, boil the kettle then pour it over them and leave it for a few hours which should kill most potential nasty bugs.

Bleach will make them eventually dry rot and alter the color of the silk. Cold rise and serve will do! But I would recommend a weak bleach solution for older /used silk plants and then soak them in dechlor. Especially if you are swapping them into different tanks.
