I wonder can anyone help me or give me insite if this is ok or not. I have my jardini for a year now he is pushing on 30cm or so. However due to his aggressiveness i have to split him up with the other fish. He not eating his normal food and i tried everything. The only thing he eat is algae wafers, he spit all other pellets out. Wondering if this is good for him or not
cheers

your jar will not get everything he needs to grow healthy from just algae wafers as they are carnivorous predators , try getting him to eat some fresh food if he won't take other pellets , muscles , shrimp , whitebait once he starts to take them season the fish meat with crushed carnivorous pellets to get him used to the taste , once he takes them and is used to the taste start to add lager bits of pellet stuffing them inside the fish meat , or you could starve your jar onto other pellets (its good that he already crushed algae wafers up he's halfway there ) you just need to get him used to the taste of new pellet that's all , try starving him onto hikari carni sticks he'll eat before he starves to death

Cheers for the reply and yeah that the plan to starve him and get him on pellets beside wafers.
He nver really liked food sticks just hard pellets
Cheers for the help

Try him on hikari gold if hes not into the sticks (cheaper option anyway ) or if hes having problems with the shape try hikari massivore there more like wafer shape , good luck :)

I continue to try "Hikari Tropical Food Sticks", and noticed my little lei chews a bit but spits out pieces as it gets soft. I first I thought it was too big, but even breaking it in half doesn't work too well.

I find that he likes the Hikari Carnivore (sinking) pellets better. I actually bought it for my little gold nugget and blue phantom, but can time it just right he'll catch it at the surface LOL. I may try the "Carnivore Sticks" later, but want to use up the Tropical Sticks first - not sure how much there different in ingredients but look alike.

I also feed Lei (and blood parrot buddies) Hai Feng (flowerhorn) pellets as a staple, frozen live krill has worked very well and I'm already handing feeding him, frozen blood worms working well. Just mix things up a bit to find that right buffet for him.
