hi i have 3 turtles 1 is t 3.5inches and 2 are at 1.2inches i planing on getting a 10cm saratoga and kepping them in a 5x2x2 tank how big can the sara toga grow to till i need to upgrade my tank cheers james

or how big can it grow in a 5x2x2 until a bigger tank is needed

any help would be apriciated

Turtles and fis do not mix, unless we are talking monster tank sizes.

Turtles will destroy water quality and the aro will end up dying. And this is if the turts do not stress the aro to desth in that confined space.

i have almost the exact same set up as this just with out the red devil

I don't have experience keeping jardinis, but I have had several (including two current) set ups that mixed fish and turtles successfully.

The determining factors are generally the turtles temperament and the body type and size of the fish. Your general "basking turtles" (sliders, painteds, etc) will do fine with most cichlids as long as the fish isnt small enough for a turtle to think they can swallow. I currently have a 180 gal housing a RES and 2 sliders with a 11" tiger Oscar. No problems at all, but there is plenty of space (plus a large above tank basking platform for the turtles).

Also have a 20 gal that has two hatchling turtles (a painted and a map) with a 2" peacock bass. Obviously the bass will be moving on to a larger tank very soon, but they get along just fine.

Long bodied fish that resemble big "feeder fish" or fish that aren't moving most of the time have not worked in my experience (I tried with my florida gar and a pleco). They just get stressed by the turtles and the turtles seem to pick up on that fear.

In short, I wouldn't try a jardini. You could get lucky, but the odds are against it working. Lots of other fish you could house in there instead.

I'm planning on buying a Saratoga that has already lived with turtles at my lfs they got one 8cm and live with two large murry river turtles in 4x2x2 with fx5 and it's the most chilled fish in the shop and only 75 wich us good around my area I have my heart set on a Saratoga but if he's picked on I will put him in my 75 gAlon tank til I get my 8x3 x3 which can be all for him🐠

And Saratogas live with turtles in the wild so I guess they live i the same environment but thank you for all the help
