My LFS has a 3"-4" Saratoga leichardti for sale for $84, Im not to sure but I think it is a good price. My question is what the different between a leichardti and a Jardini, I googled them and it just looks like the leichardti has red spots on it and different barbels. Would I be better off getting a leichardti or a Jardini??

Thanks Nova 8

I would go with leichardit.

They get bigger and IMO look much better than jardini...They are generally more tankmate mate tolerable.

Jardini on the other hand more often that not destroy all tank mates. They do however tend to be less skittish.

$84 is a little steep. They are going for $40 here in Brisbane at the moment. Come to think of it I don't really know why I havn't bought another myself....

I dont intend to keep any tank mates other then two plecos anyway (mabye some corys, they might not get eaten:D ) and its not happening for a while (2 orso mths) but just looking at all my opitions don't want to change my mind after I buy one. You know anywhere I can see a good picture of a full grown Leichardti. Thanks

Yeah I seen the picture of him in the tub after I posted the First post, he looks awesome esp love the pic of him jumping out of the water. I like the red in the Leichadti. But you said they are larger would my tank (6'x2.5'x2'w) hold one for life, if not how long.

If the tank was 2.5' wide instead of high you could do it for life.

You could probably get 2 years out of that tank. I just found that as my guy got bigger and felt cramped he started to get very skittish.

Yeah, I know, my tank is too high and not wide enough. I got it for my Cichlids (3 Oscars/2 GTs) and wanted plenty of swimming room for my 4 Silver Dollars but now that Im looking at getting in to MonsterFishKeeping it falls short in width.

Would a 6'x2.5'x3'w be definitly large enough for a leichardti full grown, if so I think I'll get a leichardti and upgrade the current 6' sometime in late 08 early 09.

Just have to bank some money for my 8ft (should take 2-3mths) and then I can look at getting a leichardti. Ohh and Im not making the same mistake with the 8fter it will be 8'x3'x2.5'w

well back to watching clipsal, thanks for you help

I'd go with the Leichadti any day!
