Saratoga questions

[Nova 8]

I am currently saving for a new tank which I should get by mid may this will leave my 850L/220G tank free (72"x24"30"H). I am leaning towards a 'toga but have many question and lots of reseach ahead of me just to make sure that I truely want and can look after a 'toga.

Heres my problem, When I get my new tank my brother wants to store two 7" trimacs in the tank until late July when he will have his new tank bought and cycled.

Ok my questions are;
-What is the smallest size I should buy one
-Ideally how quickly do they grow ie 1" per mth
-If I buy a 'toga upto what size can I keep it in a 48"x14x20"h tank on its own (wont be done until I buy the new tank).
-And lastly I have read that keeping tank mates with a 'toga is sort of a hit or miss subject as once they hit a certain size (7" I think) they go all sadistic and kill everything in majority of cases. Well would plecos be ok and other fish that stick to the bottom sectoin of the tank.

Sorry for the long post but I know how annoying it is not getting the whole story and having to guess just to hear that something has gone wrong due to the advice given.

well i have a baby jardini 3-4in. with a silver aro, swordtails, gold gourami, black ghost knife, and the silver was picking on it sometimes, so i moved the silver. and now, the aro is starting to get a bit aggressive on my gouarmi now that the silver is gone. the gouarini is currently a bit bigger then the jard. i guess the jard is seeing it as a threat? and wants to let everybody know, hes the top dawg ? lol

i think they grow a half in. - 1 in. per month for the 1st year
