Anyone have any experiance with Sarotherdon Mossambicus? My LFS has a trio that are 6 inches a piece for $60. I was thinking of picking them up for my 90. The attendant said the female was holding the other day. He also stated they will stay about 6 inches? He also said they are from one of the African River lakes. The ones in the store are dark grey and black with a red margin espicially around the dorsal and sharper in the male. The ones on line look like a butti. The store ones alo have that talipia mouth but vare not cream color but dark. Thanks in advance.

I believe the genus is Oreochromis now, and they grow to at least 12". Pretty similar to regular Nile tilapia...on the plus side, they taste good if they outgrow your tank!

back in the 70's this fish was a very popular aquarium fish. They do get 10-12 inches but are a very interesting fish to watch breed.I would try this fish again if i saw some for sale.
