Not just the genus name either (Satan's perch for those than didn't guess the latin):
daemon = demon
lilith = Adam's first wife, cursed when she refused to submit to Adam, cast out and became a demon
jurupari = native demon of several tribes of the amazon, said to eat children (and showing how observant the natives are, perhaps after watching said fish mouthbrooding?)
The genus was changed mostly becuase they formed a natural grouping that, while related and yes still eartheaters, differed enough from Geophagus species that warrented their own genus. One look at the body shape, and especally the snout of Satanoperca would show the differance. There are probably more things that Kullander saw, but haven't read the piece that described the new genus so can't rightly say.
