What would a 7" jurupari be worth? My LFS has a few big ones that just came in. They are $40 each and I was thinking about getting one or two to add to my earth eater collection. Is $40 a lot for a jurupari of that size?

S. jurupari are not the fastest growers so I would say that is reasonable price for a fish that size.
Thank you! Can you tell me any other useful information if I do decide to get a couple? Would trying to pick out one of each sex be difficult or should I try to get multiples of the same sex?
They are one of the most difficult species to sex, if possible. I think I read a paper a few years ago that mentioned them as a hermaphrodite species.
They are very peaceful and, as with many other eartheater speices, enjoy being in a group. So if you decide to go with them, I'd suggest getting more than one or two.

I think I'm going to hold off on them for now as I really only have room for two.
If it gives you a condolence, the price in Israel is about 100$.

$40 for a 7" in Satanoperca in good shape is an absolutely reasonable price. As others have said, they like groups...but will hang out with other (similar) Geos.
What other eartheaters were you planning to keep them with? tank size? They're pretty peaceful fish (and like clean, warm water).
