Well I've been sick with pneumonia and 103 fever since Tuesday and I've been pretty weak and bed ridden so havnt been able to make it down stairs to the fish room and when I want down today my satanoperca leucostica were guarding eggs in my community tank so I separated the tank and left them on the side where they laid their eggs on the wood in the tank so I was wondering how long will it take for these eggs to hatch? What the duration from the time eggs are layed to the time they hatch ? Because these could have been there since Monday night and I wouldn't have known

The eggs wrap all the way around the wood but I'm pretty sure some of the other fish ate some before I could divid the tank but that shows a decent amount of the eggs that are still left

Thanks everybody fishaholicc ill keep you in mind if the fry hatch I may be able to have someone ship a few out to you as of right now I divided my tank that they where in since it was a community tank so now that they are isolated and can relax I'm leaving them in the tank for now and if they hatch once they become free swimming ill move they fry to a grow out tank unfortunately I feel most of the fish ate alot of eggs on them before I could divid the tank but hopefully the eggs left are good fingers crossed :)

Well moms doing her job so far I went down to find just a few white eggs left ..male was picking the white eggs off eating them...the female already had all the good eggs in her mouth circulating them which tells me they are fertile so if all goes well I should have little baby luecosticta by Christmas

Cool. Firstly well done, these are not the easiest fish to spawn.

I was puzzled at first as I thought they were complete mouthbrooders and yet yours had layed eggs on a surface, but it seems yours are delayed mouthbrooders. From memory I think different species within the genus have different spawning behaviours.

They look lovely BTW !

Yes these are biparental mouthbrooders meaning the female lays the eggs and fans them then with in 1 to 24 hours the mother will pick them up .. Also thank you for all the kind comments
