When I got this GT he was 3'' and had very little coloring (orange or red) in his terminal band on his tail. It was kind of like coffee cream color and lame. Only improving by morphing into a coffee base with a white fringe. But I hoped for the best when I got him sticking to my guns thinking that krill would help bring it out.
I had other members tell me that it would never change because the fish wasn't a true gold saum but a mix of a gold and silver saum.
Well, they were wrong I'm happy to say.
It couldn't of been the krill either because I was never really successful at getting him to readily take krill without starving him so I stopped trying. I've been feeding Frozen daphnia, bloodworms, brine and a mix of hikari Gold, Staple and Excel.
The first picture was him at 3.5''
Second is at 4''.
Third is at 4.75''
The last one is at 6''. I took this pic last night and isn't the greatest quality. (none of them are) it doesn't do the fish justice. The orange is actually quite brilliant.
Just thought I'd post this in case any young GT owners are right now wondering if their GTs will color up in this manner.
