Went on youtube too look at Sav cages since I've been thinking of buying one and wanted ideas on how to decorate it and stuff.

But this doesn't look like proper caging for an adult sav at all...

The guy's using a 30 gallon long for an adult.

Hmm disabled comments. I've seen that guys vids before and his monitors look pretty good. I think its matter of thriving vs. surviving?

yea that is wrong
go with at least a foot of dirt with a good layer of leaves on top and a rock for where his basking area is and he should be plenty happy

Yeah I've been thinking about getting a galvanized stock tank and building a top for it like Pro-Exotics does.

mine is currently being set up.
foot of soil mixed with sand, 2 huge pieces of wood, hides at either end, rocks.
tanks is 4ft tall x 3' wide x 2' deep.

this is for him at the mo as hes only ickle still.

then he will be going in a 6x3x3, and i have no idea how im guna lay that out yet lol

Are you building that 6x3x3? If so I'd build it bigger if you possibly can, shoot for 8x4x3 if possible. For hides/basking spots look into Retes stacks, it gives them tons of temperature choices.

I'm building my tiny sav what will hopefully be his adult enclosure this holiday season. It should measure 10x2x3. Maybe not as wide as I'd have hoped for, but hopefully the added length will make up for that.

There's going to be a good foot of dirt in the base too, for digging.
