Save a FATF from death/ Grow Out

I guess I'm back in the keeping ATF game. It super skinny looks like a ''crack head'' so I bought it just to save it.

Its not vittatus, its probably a brevis (can't really tell when they're that emaciated). Brevis is also the hardest to get off of live, hence the state of that fish. It's likely been starved since the large batch of Nigerian tigers came in last summer.

I had a brevis that was about as bad as that one and it never got better and eventually died after a water change.

This fish was about 2.5" and in good shape in the summer time. I'm holding of on the water change until he pickup some weight.
 
Ummm, why would you not want to do water changes? I would think the cleaner the water the better.

Ummm, do you think it handle a water change right now in the condition it in. I'm going to play it safe and fatten it up first.
