I'm not sure how many of us MFKers are from the New York Area, but Coney Island, once America's amusement capital, is being eyed by developers set on gentrification. I hate this news..i remenber coney island and loved it there.. so many memories.. i was so thank full that new york city bought the carousel and planned to use it .. after the owners put it up on the auction block.. i have an illions carousel horse because of coney island.. i was born in manhattan and what is NYCity without coney island?? I watched the tube and had them sent to me..so sad

It's sad though. I'm happy Bloomberg bought the B&B for the city, but it's still sitting there, unused. What part of NY do you live in?

now i am upstate..also grew up on Long Island..{carle Place} nassau county.. very disturbing ..what are they thinking of developing it into.. more high risers?Condos??

After months of posturing and releasing photoshopped "artists' renditions," Thor Equities finally admitted that they wanted a zoning change so they could build upscale condominiums.

That sucks!!!!! We're going to lose part of Amerian history if they tear it down. That was one of my favorite parts of the new Type O Negative DVD, with Josh walking around Coney Island talking to random people!

It's the "Dead Again" special edition. The packaging is red instead of green.
