Ok so i got yet another fish from work lol. The 75 was sposed to be my GFs saltwater tank but we dont really got the money for lighting and such so iam in the "dog house" for this one but...

yesterday a guy came into work with a bucket. In it was a 8-9inch oscar hes albino actually pretty much pure white i think he could be a snow. Anyways, his left eye had pop eye so bad that it was almost falling off. He is also starting to show signs of Hole in the head. I asked what size tank they had him in, he replied a 36g bowfront because when he bought him at petsmart the info card said they get 8 inch and could live in a 29g tank.....He wanted 35$ in store credit i told him theres no way i can do it, he said a few choice words and walked away. A lady came and got me saying there was a bucket in the aisle with a huge fish in it...As i turned the corner i noticed it. So i assume he set the bucket down before he left. Seeing this brought a pain to my stomach. But to the point His eye has completly come off and the pupil is still there but it is black. And the hole still looks the same, all my levels are perfect and i heard carbon can be a cause of HITH so i removed it. I was planning on useing Melafix to treat him but not sure if it will help him and i dont want to use a medicine that wont help him and stress him out further. So what is the best way to go about this?

Keep his water as pristine as possible. Feed high-quality foods and soak them in liquid vitamin supplement. Dim lights are a must. Also feed plenty of crickets for good tissue growth.

I cured my pin-sized HITH starter hole with a quick run of hex-out and the addition of a vitamin and mineral pyramid. Worse cases may require more effort.

Only thing he took today was a whole cube of frozen mysis shrimp. I assume since he didnt know how to take care of an oscar it was probly raised on feeders its whole life. Hope i can get him on some type of pellet/stick after he gets better.

Does he still have both eyes?? I wish him the best. Good luck wtih healing your oscar. Thats just very mean and cruel. That guy is a douche.

I'm glad you took him home! If you haven't done so already, keep your tank temperature around 80-82 to improve his immune response and add 1 rounded tablespoon of aquarium salt per 5 gallons. I wouldn't add any medications (example: Melafix) unless the tissues around his eye start to look inflamed or get a whitish creamy discharge. Regular water changes, low lighting, and low stress will hopefully do wonders for him. Keep us updated!

well the like clear i guesse "eye ball " is gone, but the pupil is still there. It is so bloodshot though it is almost black while the other eye is a bright orange. Iam pretty sure he can see out of it cause he was watching my daughter walk past his tank while his good side was turned away. He also had no troubles eating the frozen cube of mysis. raised temp from 78 to 80 and i have a salt mixture settleing, and i added prime by seachem hoping that will help. Iam gonna wait a few days before i add melafix. Kinda cruel but i think iam gonna name him two-face =).
