to be honest its a goner if it continue in that 10 gallon

and its a goldfish for crying out load!!! what 10 bucks tops?

buy a rubber maid 55 container and keep it in that for now

i want to save it more for the kids than the fish, how truamatic would it be for htose kids if they grew that attatched to the fish and then it just died?

Back to the matter at hand. Try to get it some more leg room (the rubber maid idea is a good one, i have used them for gold fish in a pinch, just make sure its covered or they will jump out). Then just follow the basics of fish care... you know... add a little aquarium salt, prima fix and mela fix arn't that expensive, change the water twice a week to keep disolved chemical stress to a minimum. Gold fish are pretty harty fish. You would be suprised what they can live through. He will probably heal on his own. As far as the teacher there is a lot of ways you can get info accross without lecturing them or making them defensive. Just mention that the fish has a big scratch and would be healthier in a bigger tank and make her that offer to trade her a few cheep fish that will work better in the tank. It can't hurt to try to help it.

next time im down there ill bring the fishey med kit, and ill make a few suggestions and may come home with 2 new monster goldies lol

whats bad to be nice on younger bros once in a while

am i suppose to tell him keeping it in the 10 gal is ok?

forget it

get the goldfish at least a 55-100, you could make an activity out of it for the kids in proper pet care, setting an exellent example in responsibility.

no tank space??

start clearing out some stuff! :D
