Hey guys,

I ordered from Drs. Foster/Smith and my plants got caught up in the storm. They arrived Friday instead of Wednesday, and the water was freezing cold. I ordered 4 Pygmy Chain Swords and 2 micro sword. The micro sword look to be relatively okay, but there should be some die off (top 1/3 is limp looking after being in the tank 2 days). The chain sword looks awful, and has sparse small green areas, with a dark/translucent green on the rest. They said they'd work with me to make the whole situation right, but i'd like to at least try to save the plants.

I have Flourish/Flourish Excel coming on wednesday, and will also be using that to treat a bit of an algae problem. (I had the light on way too long at first). The water is 6.5 ph, I have a 48w aquatic life fixture, it's got eco-complete substrate, and it's in a 29g with 2 rams, an oto, and 7 cardinals. Temperature is 84*F

as long as there is still some green left and the roots are still intact, the plants have a chance. I ordered some anubias from malaysia and one arrived with all its leaves brown and slimy. However, the tuber was still green and now after a week, the new stems have emerged.

Take pictures and keep a record, you might be able to get your money back from Dr. Foster & Smith if they don't make it.

Shot them an email when the package arrived. They were amazing and have earned my future plant business. They immediately shipped another batch (whole order) to me the following tuesday, and they arrived yesterday looking great. One or two of the original chain swords may survive, but I trimmed all but the 3 tiny green leaves off because they were dead. We'll see. Major thumbs up to DRS F&S

Fosters is hard to beat with quality on replacement, good company from a good state.

My parents still remember when F&S were just vets and came out here to the farm to personally give our horses shots. My how times have changed since then.

That being said, I have received plants that were actually frozen solid. I got some MM that was crispy to the touch.

Soaked them out in some tank water, and then planted them. I now have a little patch growing in my tank.

Let me know if there are ever any plants you are looking for, its good to have connections in the hobby, and sometimes you get the best deals just getting plants shipped flat rate from other hobbyists.
