I'm fairly certain it was the real deal - the LFS owner was just unbagging it as I got there and he was pretty excited about it. This guy has been in business for over thirty years and deals extensively with Oregon State University's School of Veterinary Medicine - he is the last person I would expect to misidentify a fish.
As far as the price, $85 is with the employee discount (I worked there for a summer), he said he was going to ask $125 for it. Normally his prices are a bit on the high side, so t is surprising to hear he is so low on this one. Maybe I should have jumped on the deal...
i dunno i saw a definate goliath tiger fish, he was in with 5 vittaus, so i could see the difference. he was going for 200 and he was 8 inches long. too bad the owner died 3 years ago... that order was 2 years ago. it was the last fish order ever to come into that store...
