saw a pleco last weekend .. need id

saw a 4" black specimen that has a lot of bristles ... the head is very wide and taperred to the tail ... head width is almost halft the body length at approx 1.75" wide ... it was labelled as 'bristled bushnose' ... i've had bristled nose in the past but this guy has a "HUGE" wide head for that short of the body ... sorry, didn't take any pictures while at the store

anybody has any idea what this guy might be and how big does he get?

on that description id say Ancistrus ranunculus, which is L034. They'd only get about an inch bigger than you described. Stereo mentioned the L255, which have the same shape as the L034, but have the white spots. They are commonly called the medusa pleco (or of course the spotted medusa pleco).

Then again... could be something entirely different.

yup ... thanks davo, it is the L034 ... i hope it's okay to insert a picture from planetcatfish here ... the L255 is also awesome looking .. thanks guys
