Today on one of my Catlocarpio siamensis I notice something sticking out from its right nostril. It looked kinda pink in color thin like a toothpick sticking out about 1/4"!.
I tried to get a closer look but the fish wouldn't sit still long enough. But i could see it was stiff and not waving in the water. I got my net out and netted him. When he was in the net it looked like whatever it was fell off so I released him. After watching him I notice it had only just snapped off and what ever it was is still in his nostril. Then when he turned and opened his mouth I could see what looked like a thin like stick kinda like a toothpick going across his throat. i quickly figured what ever it is got stuck in his mouth and poked through the top of the roof of his mouth and poked through his nostril!! I don't know if there is a canal leading to his nostril from inside the mouth but it just happen to just poke through it. So I quickly netted him again. Got some tweezers and pulled whatever it was out. It turned out to be a thin piece of bone from some previous fish that died in the tank. It was about 1.25" long. He must of been shifting the sand and swallowed it Then it got stuck and poked through its nostril. It didn't seem to be in any pain or showed any sign of stress when I observed him. After I got it out I fed some food to see if he'd eat and he did so I guess it didn't injure him any.
