Saw this at my LFS

Damn,boomerang aro.

I'm not very familiar with aro's but is this caused by an injury, poor living conditions or is it just genetic?
It could be any one of those choices,I have never seen that before.

I suppose the only thing that could be done would be to get him into a massive tank asap. Looks like he broke his spine at one point, maybe he bonked the glass really hard or was attacked? Probably not reversible. Poor dude.

On the upside I've had crooked spine guppies that have been just fine (was gunna cull but a friend wanted them, they lived a good life), not sure how it would be with an arowana though.

I have seen fish like that being sold like that. It's was on youtube. It was a tour of some asain fish shops. There was a tank for fish just like that I believe they were channa micro.and a few others If I can remember right. I'll see if I can find the video again

I have also seen a vid with crooked snakehead.

Can be inbreeding or just poor keeping

I think it's birth defected, I saw juv. silvers with crook back like above quite often in a LFS focus selling silver arowana only, think about it...if it slammed itself that hard to broke it back like that, it would be dead by now, even if this one was rise in a 50G tank its back won't be like that neither.
