I just bought 4.5" Saxatilis Pike. What do u think guys?
Not like others pike that i had kept b4 , he doesn't like hiding under a bogwood, very active and he always swims near the surface to catch some food.

GORGEOUS!!!! I love the coloration!! Did you get just one or are there more!!! Definitely get him a lady if you can! She will knock his socks off.

Btw. . . looks like Crenicichla lepidota. :)

There were some more pikes when i bought this one....but i just picked the male coz i dont want to breed hehe....female has plain coloration and smaller size, so i dont really like it....

Actually i'm a little bit confuse about C. saxatilis and C. lepidota, can u explain what is the differences of both species? Thx

Superb coloration and great fin extension. I'm jealous! My Sveni and Johanna seem dull in comparison.

Well, lepidota has more splotches, where as saxatalis is more spangles. Another thing is the suborbital 'teardrop'. In Cr. saxatilis its shaped like a triangleish, and is generally a red color. Cr. lepidota it looks like a pencil mark, and is normally blackish.

There are few other things, like the suborbital stripe and various other coloration things. Those were the two main pikes yours resembled, and out of the two the lepidota looked most accurate. I could still be way off though, Saxatilis pikes are tricky.

WOW...good explanation i got it!!! Thx....
Here is my couple lepidota pic, I used to breed them, but they already dead, the female killed his couple, and the 6" female was feed by my 18" P bass
