I just picked up my first Pike tonight :D

Found it being listed as a "golden pike" But it looks alot like a proteus (sp?) except it has vertical stripes. It has a solid black line threw the lateral line. a tail spot. As well as what looks like 3 close spots on it's dorsal fin? And it's about 3"

Once he/she settles in I'll take a pic for a positive ID but is this likely to be the fish?

Sounds like its female at least. And a type of Saxatilis group pike. Common names are pretty much worthless for the most part though, could be almost any pike. Pictures would be greatly helpful. :)

Thanks peanut =D the others look alot like Venezuelean juvie pics I've seen. But She was just waaay to pretty to pass-up. Pretty sure I saw a male in the tank as well. pondering running back and picking him up as well. But I wanted an ID of what they are first.

As promised  If these don't do it. I'll stake her out.. she's very smart.. and fast.

atm this is the best I could get of her. bribed her with food to stay still for a minute :naughty: I ended up dragging the husband back to the LFS and the male was still there.. so 3/40$ or 15$ a pop.. we ended up with him and 2 of the "Gold Pikes" It'll be interesting to see how everyone grows up. She immediatly flared her gills at the male, smacked him around abit. And now they are buddies. I wish I woulda gotten a Pike alot sooner. just the past few days these guys are far more entertaining then my Oscar ever was. Any big dos or don't with these guys as far as husbandry goes? i feed the tank a mix of frozen bloodworms, krill, and NLS pellets 1-2x a day. tanks temp is in the mid to high 70's and the waters otherwise pretty standard. atm they're with some boisterus juvi Bichir and a TT. I expect to have to move everyone but the dwarfs in the next 6 months.

The dorsal spot at first makes me want to say proteus, but they don't usually have the ringed caudal spot.

her on the right now that she's settled in abit. "gold" on the left.. then a 1/2 tank shot of the 4 of them. btw.. no spangling on anyone that I can see yet.
