Baseball star admits steroid use

Alex Rodriguez is baseball's highest paid player

American baseball has been thrown into disarray after its highest-paid player, Alex Rodriguez, admitted using performance-enhancing drugs.
The 33-year-old, known as A-Rod by fans, said he took steroids for several years - but he denies using them now.
Baseball has been hurt in recent years by a series of allegations involving drug use and corruption.
Mr Rodriguez signed a 10-year contract with the New York Yankees just over a year ago for a reported $275m (£185m).
In contemporary baseball, they do not get bigger than Rodriguez.
As well as being the sport's highest-paid player, he has been romantically linked to Madonna, although both say they are simply good friends.
Tarnished game
In short, A-Rod is an American superstar and - until recently - a player who had been seen as the great hope for a tarnished game.
For years some of baseball's biggest names either admitted using or were accused of using performance enhancing drugs.
A-Rod appeared to be a fresh, clean, start. His admission about steroid use in 2003 is depressing for those in the US who regard baseball as the quintessential American pastime and expect more of its stars. Although assuming A-Rod continues hitting home runs for the Yankees when the season starts again, many fans may not be that bothered.

hes a bum anyway.when you need him to win a game with bases loaded in the 9th he strikes out.when the yankees are winning 8-1 he'll hit a homer for some useless points.over rated and over paid.

Overpaid, yes (but this IS the yankees we're talking about), overrated, ehh i guess.

But he's still an amazing baseball player. I personally could care less what he did (allegedly) back in 2003. There are what 103 other names on the list? Probably most all of the biggest names in the sport right now. I mean, i was born and bred to hate the yankees, but he is still a great player.

Haha, but baseball is done any way, too much emphasis on the homerun, i for one would much rather see a double play than a homer. They should move the fields back a good bit, or like cut a couple of each of the players tendons in their arms or something. Thats how they could save the game.

A-roid?

Who cares?

Well, being a yankees fan, I wasn't thrilled, but whatever. With the way baseball is today, I could give you the names of tons of players that use steroids. Sadly, that's just the way it is.

He's certainly not the first pic in my fantasy baseball draft. That distinction goes to the Yankees pitching staff. Arguably the most dominant in the past 10 years or so.

lol i think once they admit to it, there is no more "allegedly".

Who's shocked by this? And he said it was 2000-2003. What about 2 years ago when he was smashing april records?

Haha, no i meant that he allegedly only did them back then.

I guess allegedly wasn't really the right word.
