So I got this guy a couple of months ago. He was sold as a regular Texas Cichlid but I saw he was SB so that's why I got him... Now he seems to be developing a reddish hue on his body. I'm thinking he is an unfaded RT.
Some tex have a reddish hue as a base color beneath their pearls but since its a Sb who knows. It does have some great color and with tex being used to produce many hybrids...
One thing is certain and that is you have a beautiful Sb tex.
Yes he has fertilized a few batches of eggs but they have all been eaten so far. The pics really don't do him justice to be honest. I'm going to set up a sep. tank to save the eggs next time he spawns.
I have another SB tex (which I believe is his sister) and I have a SB Tex x King Kong Parrot female. I'm pretty sure he is a mix because I don't think I have seen any Texas with red eyes.
