So I got this guy a couple of months ago. He was sold as a regular Texas Cichlid but I saw he was SB so that's why I got him... Now he seems to be developing a reddish hue on his body. I'm thinking he is an unfaded RT.

Some tex have a reddish hue as a base color beneath their pearls but since its a Sb who knows. It does have some great color and with tex being used to produce many hybrids...
One thing is certain and that is you have a beautiful Sb tex.

Yes he has fertilized a few batches of eggs but they have all been eaten so far. The pics really don't do him justice to be honest. I'm going to set up a sep. tank to save the eggs next time he spawns.

I have another SB tex (which I believe is his sister) and I have a SB Tex x King Kong Parrot female. I'm pretty sure he is a mix because I don't think I have seen any Texas with red eyes.

I've had tex with reddish eyes not the trimac or flowerhorn RED though.
I'm very interested in this guy keep us posted.

nice texas x flowerhorn!
