so my F1 gymno's have like brown scales, and at some points the scales look completely rotted, its really prevailed on my rhabdotus? but now my bahia reds are showing the same thing, same with the parachromis? the tank consists of parachromis sp. la ceiba yellow heads, gymno bahia reds, rhabdotus, tsn, scomb. silver datnoids, angel fish, and few other, but only my F1 fish are showing it. what could this be?

they are as healthy as a horse, eating to the fullest they could hold, but im just worried cause i lost one of my rhabdotus because it looked like the scales were rotted and it looked like crap to be honest. im really worried, could it be chlorine burn or something. what could i do to treat this? im really worried, cause i really like these fish and don't want to lose em'.

i do not know the water params, i will test tomorrow. and the temp is around 74 degrees. its a 125 gallon tank, and i have two emperor 400's as filtration (im looking into an fx5 and will be upgrading soon to a larger tank).

thanks in advance. anything would be highly appreciated.

nothing yet, i have done frequent water changes, no meds, nothing yet. but i might soon if i need to.

well make sure you test ur water to see if you are to high or low with nitrites nitrates, ph, amonia ect... i would start treating with some melafix but make sure u take out carbon filter while you treat it and it would problay be agood idea to do a partial water change not a full one.

ok, would melafix be safe for my catfish and H. Scomb.? i know they are delicate to meds.

yea usually melafix can be used for the more delicate and fragile fish thats why its soo good to use i use it all the time for our petshop it works if ur not sure about it then it will tell if you cant use it on delicate fish but you can if you want to you can have a smaller tank as a medecine tank so you can put your sick fish in that tank and treat them in it as well thats always something to keep in mind especially if you dont feel comfortable treating somefish.

well i have angel fish, catfish and the scomb. the scomb. has been treated with it before, and prevailed, i could trust the catfish as they are almost bulletproof. but my angels i am worried about.

angels will be fine i am sure of it i been dealing with fish all my life and i love angels i used to breed angels. but yea they will be fine

ok, thank you, nothing else?
