So my 4" male festae was very outgoing. He's was alone in a 55 and was always out swimming and begging for food. I put 5, 3" danois in with him so he could chase them and all he does is hide!! Wtf. He's totally skittish now??

so what should u do?

better do it soon before festae gets internal parasite from the stress

The festae is too used to being alone. Anything new is going to scare him. Try taking out the danios and put a small mirror and let him get used to having to defend his territory.

I put some danios in with my festae, the danios were bigger than the festae back then. I did it because the festae went scrambling for cover at feeding time... (group of 7 festae all around 2" or less back then)

So they killed off the danios 1 by 1 ... $40 gone in less than a week. BUT! lesson learned..

It took a weeks before the festae would come to the surface for food, they are still a little timid in that regard. They are the only fish in a 40B atm

I had a pair of festae and worst fish I owned! So cautious and skittish, bad eaters and would only come out from hiding if there was other fish with them.
I got a spawn from them so I will grow out fry in hope that not all festaes are that way. Gorgeous looking fish but I am not sold on just looks!
