Hi guys,

pls pls pls pls pls pls pls dont bash me up when i ask this question but why does my aro act so timid whenever i approach my tank to like feed it or look at it cos it will start shooting around! i know that its due to stress perhaps but is it normal? i dont want it to be stressed everytime i go over to put food in. anyway its 5` and it has been with me for um.. 5 days? and it loves brine shrimp but not blood worms heh!

Normal. It's only been with you for 5 days so it's still adjusting. It's different for each aro, but they usually do take some time till they get use to you. I hope you don't have that little thing with your motoro, or you're going to wake up to a missing silver in the next few days.

Good to hear that! Oh gosh! actually i do have that little thing with the motoro but the motoro is a pup too, aro is 5' and motoro is 5' disc length! will it be ok?

titus.. 5(") inch you mean.. not 5(') feet...one of my aro is 24" and i've had her like a little over a year now.. almost from a 6".. and at times she has got freaked out too.. mostly my error.. i moved too quick or such.. time.. and make sure the aro can see you as you approach the tank.. wham jus dont give it a surprise and appear before the tank.. keep some night light on in the room if you plan on switchin off the tank lights.. the aro will be fine.. give it some time mate.. cheers..

HAHAA GOSH! i never knew ' and " and such a big difference cos here in signapore we only go by cm! oops my bad! alright thanks for the info! will try to walk over slower nxt time! oh what did u feed it at 6"? mine doest really eat bloodworms.it eats brine shrimp but that kinda doesnt fill it up IMO. I usually put 4-5 cat fishes into the tank so im not sure if it does eat it or it is the motoro that eats them!

brine shrimp is good.. try crickets if you can.. or earthworms.. even hikari pellets at this stage can be fine.. some take to it straightaway.. some take some time.. dont starve the aro but mix it along with the brine shrimp.. pellets are the safest.. you could try fresh market prawns too, bite sized mp.. not the whole thing..

My aros are pretty calm except when someone wearing a red shirt approaches the tank, then they go berserk and are really skittish. Just give it some time and keep feeding it, it will learn sooner or later that seeing you = food in the tank.

haha alright! lesson learnt = never wear a red shirt! hahaha. anyway i realised that when i first got it, its bottom fins were all spread out like a fan, now its closed up, making it seem more sleek. any significance in that?

Give it some time, it'll get used to you feeding it or looking at it.
