OKay so all these people with blown out acrylic have me scared. My tank is not flat but its pretty level i'd say within 1/8 inch. So now I will be going home and trying to shim it again; spent to days trying to shim this dang thing, when setting it up.

i never had an acrylic blow out yet. could be messy. but all my bigger tanks are glass. i seem to like glass better but heavy!!!

Scratch easy is not even the word for it, I am afraid to be next to the tank when I am sick. I might cough on it or sneeze or something, just cleaning it with a plain white tee shirt scratches it. However I will always buy acrylic for 200+ gallon tanks, I love how light they are, and I love how easy it is to customize. To buy a glass drill bit is costly and its only good for so many holes, I can buy a life time supply of wood hole saws for the price I would pay for glass hole saws.

I agree with everything you just said!

I was moving a couch next to the tank and it just bumped it slightly. The couch is covered, it's not like a battering ram or anything. I couldn't believe the mark it left! #$%^*&^%@@.

I just bought a used 450 and put 7 holes in it to improve filtration, easy! I moved it and put it on the stand with one other guy. It was heavy but do-able. My wife was watching and said something like "retarded strong" or along those lines, but we did it lol. Impossible with glass. So I have a love/hate relationship with acrylic tanks, and a really nice buffer ;)

So went home and checked.

Water level

Right Front to Left Front - .5"

Right front to right back a diffence of 1/8"

Left front to Left back a difference of 1/8"

So it seems to me the easiest thing to do is lift the whole front of the tank 1/8 inch, the tank wont be level still but it will be flat.

Any comments? should I worry about the above leveling or not? It will be a PITA to level but would rather have PITA leveling then a PITA cleaning followed by crying for lost tank.

Tank 84x24x25

Cleaning a acrylic tank is easy

clean the outside with nose tissues and turtle wax acrylic glass cleaner the type for soft top convertible cars

the in side i use a acrylic mag float with a tunze acrylic pad

my tank is near 5 years old with hardly any scratches

Actually, I have a diamond drill bit that has drilled 20-30ish holes and still looks new. Cost wise, if you buy them from the right place, they aren't much more than a wood hole saw (I've bought all of mine from THK Tools in Hong Kong).

all my tanks are acrylic. i will never buy glass again!

I wouldn't worry about the 1/8" difference. If I was going to shim any part of it, I would fix the 1/2" difference first, but you should be OK.
