Becoming frustrated with my new NGT, i got him a week ago and he is in a black tank with my 3 rays amd another IT his size. He is about 4-5 inches. Since i've got him i have. Ot seen him wat yet. Was told that he ate frozen fosh and market prawn, last week i gave him a piece of driftwood and has not seen him since, today i removed the driftwood. Any advise on how to
Make him braver?

Honestly, my Datnoid is the same. He'll hide behind the driftwood all day except for when it is feeding time. Recently he's started to come out of the driftwood before feeding time, so I only assume hes settling in. I've tried removing the driftwood before but he only looks more stressed/scared

From what I've read, Datnoids are ambush predators and also big sooks so they do require cover and time to settle in. So put back the driftwood and give it time to settle in.

+1

As it gets bigger and more comfortable it should come out more, just give it time

Any pic?

thanks guys :) i've had lots of other datnoids, but this NGT is getting on my nerves.
I'll try to get a picture and post later .
so far have not seen him take anything.

here's a picture of him , he's the one lying down :(

would it be better to move him into my severum tank?
will more fish make him more confident?

I tried to add in silver dollars with my datnoid but it seemed to make him more scared and uneasy. Give it a shot, I'm pretty sure each individual is different
