i have 4-4.5 inches plecos like golden nugget, royal, green phantom, L11 and L240 in a 300 gal tank with my arowana. im planning to buy a scarlet pleco about 7 inches the store owner told me its kind of dangerous to mix scarlet with what i currently have. he said the scarlet could kill my smaller pleco. what do you guys think? is it true?

That store owner isn't lying to you.. Its real.. L24 Scarlet are predatory plecos

They are meat eaters and cannot be housed with plecos that are the non meat eaters. What you mostly have.

If you do want a exotic red or orange looking pleco.. I suggest looking into L-14, l-114. A 7 inch Scarlet is a very matured adult pleco and will hunt for food...

its very hard to tell, i've seen pseuda's that are big softies and lived happily with other smaller plecs, my 9" L25 is this way, never bothers with the others, but..... you could get a mean one that COULD kill the others, they can be very territorial but i generally find that if one does get a bit aggro, a quick change around in the tank decor can calm them down.
the trouble i see is that you dont really have a big enough tank to give him enough space, he may feel that he doesn't have space and turn on the others.
plus you would have issues with diet too, pseuda's are carnivores and you have herbivores and wood eaters in there already

I agree with the L114 suggestion neat looking plecs!

Scarlets are L-25 . L-24 is the red tailed cactus pleco. L-25's get close to 18 inches L-24's more like 12. they look similar but the l-25 is more dark brown-black with orange margins the L-24 is olive with orange markings. Both are on the pleco ban and difficult to find. My L-25 is a cat. L-114 on the other hand can be very nasty. Cool plecs nonetheless.

I have my 4" scarlet with my 4" magnum and haven't had any problems. The scarlet stays hidden all the time.
