Woke up this moring to find my super red severum without a face :-( . I am not sure who the culprit was .... A choice of 2 my jack d, who i think has paired with my salvini or my red head veija just because he is the boss. They have all been living happy together for about 6 weeks, it was quite a shock. I still have 3 left 2 small 2 inch males and a large female, i want my upgrade to arrive qucker now as i am worried but it wont be ready for another 5 weeks ish to add fish.....

HOLY GEEZUS thats unfortunate... he wasnt showing any signs of illness? because if he was it could have been a team effort...

No illness, he was the middle in the pecking order of the 3 males that i am trying to get a mate for my female from, so he could have had a fight with the small alpha but they are of simular size and there is no way it could have bitten his face clean off!

That sucks, sorry for your loss.
I'm betting it was the JD or sal. Syns seem to be bossy, but aren't killers. Mine bullies my JD and sal. All 3 are males.

My guess is the jd, simply because he has pair with the salvini but i am not sure if he is big enough at 4.5 inches ish, it was a clean bite. So that were the confusion lies. Sucks but Hopfully once the big tank arrives i can cycle quickly!

is he still alive? can we see pics? if you have a spare tank you may want to remove the JD and sal as they can both be VERY aggressive!

It died it had no face! It was a clean bite from just under the eye taking out the mouth in a circle. Basically if you had the fish flat on its side it looks like a large hole punch has been used

Oh dear! I've always heard horror stories like this but never experienced or seen them. I have always thought they were massively over exadurated. But these are cichlids. So anything could happen!

Yep, i was taking a charnce when i first introduced them, as the sevs were so small, thought i was in the clear now that they had grown. You do never know whats going to happen.
