So Ive heard that bullheads really tear up aquarium plants, but what about channels? Will thye be ok w/ plants? Also, do mystery/apple/trapdoor, and similar large snails eat plants? I want to get some to take care of my algae problem, but I dont want them to eat my plants either. Thanks in advance for the help!

Channels might be more plant friendly ... But i don't think so.. And they are more of the predatory type than Bullheads in my opinion..

:D Proof is in the meat :) Eat one of each and you'll know immediately which one has sucked mud it's whole life LOL AKA Mud Cat LOL...

You could try the smaller relatives of the bullheads and channels, madtoms. I wouldn't get a channel, as wel all know they get huge. Unless you have a private pond to put it in it wouldn't be a good idea.

My bullhead destroyed my plants.

I have 2 bass, a lm and a sm in the tank right now, along w/ 2 bluegill and a crayfish (its not doing a good enough job IMO) I have a pond that their all going into once they outgrow the 125 BTW, so size isnt much of an issue.
