Ok ]\/[onsters, I have grown a lot into the interest of FH. I am planning out to getting into 1 myself for a start.

1. What should I look for the highest quality FH(I kno that big kok has something to do with quality)?
2. What strain of FH is the most expensive or best quality out there?
3. Will they be able to be housed in a 60 gal standard by itself(if not, what is recommended)?
4. What's the difference between Kamfa, King Kamfa, Faded(Golden Base), Kamalau, Red Dragon, Zhen Zhu, Tan King, and Golden Monkey?
5. Which strain do you prefer yourself?
6. Which strain brings out the best coloration in your own personal opinion(I don't like anything that has bright bright red like the Red Dragon.)
7. Do you prefer rainbow color gravels(I know that rainbow color gravels is irritating, but isn't it suppose to bring out the colors more) or regular natural gravel?
8. Story goes that black background is a NO NO for FH, is there any truth to this(if there is, what do you suggest I pick for bringing out it's color)?
9. How are you able to tell what type of strain it is?
10. What does each strain have that is unique to each of its own?
11. Which type of food is better? NLS or Grand Sumo?
12. Can the KOK be grown bigger with fattier food or does it follow by genetic traits from the parents?
13. How should the breeding process me done and how should I care for the frys?
14. Anything else that I didn't cover, please let me know.

Thanks in advance!

as stated above me. most if of those in depth questions can be answered with the stickies on the top of this forum section. educate yourself by reading those is where to start. also scan through the threads and the rest of those questions can be answered with a little bit of skimming time. actually i'm pretty sure those exact questions you can search for. most of them were probably titles for threads. :D

Tried those stickies, I'm still clueless. Of course some questions are being answered. But for the most part, still a little shaky.

I bought my first fh back in Oct. A fem. red dragon. Now I have 2 red dragons and 2 kamalau. If your not a fan of red colored fish look into the Thai silk(Titanium) strain. They don't have red as far as I know. Do some research in this forum(don't forget the media lounge!). It's hard to tell with some fh's what strain they are because they vary so much from one fishto the next but most quality strains are imported from Thailand. That's where my kamalau came from. Good luck, and post picks if you end up getting a FH.

Thai Silk are nice, but I'm not a fan of them at all. I don't like FH with so much red, I mean...I don't like Red Dragon. Okay, that's a better term to use. :D

1. What should I look for the highest quality FH(I kno that big kok has something to do with quality)?
Big KOK is desired more by most, but i like the KOK to be in proprtion.
Flowerline: must stretch 80% along the side of the fish atleast for it to be considered high quality..
body shape: Not long bodied, Short Rectangular and broad are much more prefered..
Fins and tail: Must be well formed and not drooping, for kamfa they must be wrapped = dorsal and anal fin must meet the tail fin and close the gaps..
2. What strain of FH is the most expensive or best quality out there?
Depends where you are, but best quality IMO are King Kamfa and Kamalau
3. Will they be able to be housed in a 60 gal standard by itself(if not, what is recommended)?
Yes
4. What's the difference between Kamfa, King Kamfa, Faded(Golden Base), Kamalau, Red Dragon, Zhen Zhu, Tan King, and Golden Monkey?
main differences are: kamfa have mainly white, orange, or yellow, Sunken eyes, and a Wrapped tail, preferably.. King kamfa has the best traits possible including thick pearling from head to tail..
Tan king: are almost the same as king kamfa, just bred buy another breeder who has named them Tan, I Beleive that was his name..
Red dragon is a type of Zhen Zhou, The other type is Blue Dragon.
Kamalau = Golden monkey, Which Must have Worm pearls completely covering the head, and a shorter "monkey" looking face.. in the case of kamalau flowerline isnt worried about so much as the pearls make up for this
Jinkang have a golden base and a red front end usually, therefor differ a lot from the others.

5. Which strain do you prefer yourself?
Kamalau..
6. Which strain brings out the best coloration in your own personal opinion(I don't like anything that has bright bright red like the Red Dragon.)
Kamalau
7. Do you prefer rainbow color gravels(I know that rainbow color gravels is irritating, but isn't it suppose to bring out the colors more) or regular natural gravel?
I prefer bare bottom tank, but natural gravel if i do use any..
8. Story goes that black background is a NO NO for FH, is there any truth to this(if there is, what do you suggest I pick for bringing out it's color)?
Anything Bright, I use a marine background with colourful corals on it..
9. How are you able to tell what type of strain it is?
Lots of reading about the different strains, my advice, look at lots of articles and pictures before you go buy one, and know what features your looking for in a particular strain..
10. What does each strain have that is unique to each of its own?
Kamfa have the sunken eyes and wrapped tail..
Kamalau have the shorter face and worm pearls covering the head, which ZZ do not have.
11. Which type of food is better? NLS or Grand Sumo?
NLS is the only one available to me..
12. Can the KOK be grown bigger with fattier food or does it follow by genetic traits from the parents?
99% genes
13. How should the breeding process me done and how should I care for the frys?
ill answer this when you get that far..
14. Anything else that I didn't cover, please let me know.
Not sure, if you think of anything, just ask..

I have my female red dragon in a 75g with a fx5 filter. Just introduced 2 small algae eaters to help clean up her mess (green phantom and a rhino pleco). Provide lots of hiding spots from her as she stalks them

I'm one of the few who have the forbidden black background with green gravel. She is stunning in there

I feed her a variety of stuff, but doesn't do frozen stuff for whatever reason. Won't try feeders
