I want to know everything about the odoe pike AKA african pike! I'm having a hard time finding info online... :nilly:
1. Growth/Life Span(I heard they top out 5 years, is there any truth to this?)
2. Food?
3. Tank mates?
4. Sand/Gravel or Bare bottom?
5. Decor? Plants?
6. Attitude/Temperament
8. Anything else I did not cover, please tell me(unless you want me to have a dead pike )

1. yup, about five years. Can get up to 14 inches and will get there quick.
2. Thoroughly enjoy live food but can easily be trained to accept prepared meaty foods.
3. Bichirs are, by far, the best tank mates! Have seen them with rays as well.
4. I always perfer sand. They don't seem to care since they're mid to top level swimmers.
5. Lots of plants! and driftwood too. They're kind of shy but come out of their shells with plants to hide in.
6. They act bigger than they are but are pretty swell fish. Get three or four of them and they have a lot more personality.
7. ?
8. You'll want a large tank with plenty of swimming space. Somewhere in the 200+ gallon range if you go for three or four of them.

need a tank jumper lid. over cover like floating plants, hanging branches is better than things like driftwood to hide under as these are mid to high water fish. get along with most fish it can't fit in it's mouth. eat like pigs. mine take feeders and meal worms. Other keepers have commented on their aggresiveness. have had my odoes for nearly a year now and they've not grown much. fish were 8-9" at purchase.
