Here&There
I have a lone RBP about 6" in a 75gal. I am trying to decide whether to raise him by himself, spend big$ to get him a couple RBP tankmates his own size, trade him in and get a school of 4-5 baby RBP, or trade him in and get a lone Black Piranha. I've only ever kept RBP so I don't know a ton about BlackPs except that they are less tolerant of tankmates of ay kind. I'd like to hear the opinions/pros&cons of people who have experience with both. Any info or advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Also, with BlackPs how long does it take to get to the point where their color changes to black/charcoal? Is an 18" wide 75gal too small for one anyway?

Is in now legal to keep p's in KY? Although you might be able to do a black in a 75g, I always thought that they did better in a 125g

How big do they get? I've read 18". What species is your avatar?

I have both but my rhom is still small. Personally, i enjoy the shoal better even though my small rhom appears to be a bit of a finger chaser.

Rhoms take forever to grow though, i'm pretty sure mine would just get lost and i'd be wasting a ton of food if i went 55 or up at this point, let alone a 75 or 125.

I'd start over with small ones, they'll quickly shoot up to 6 inches but might be hard if you're attached

serra mac in my avatar. it's part of a mixed shoal of 9 rbp and 6 macs. I see no need for a 125g for a small rhom but you really dont want a 14" rhom in a 75

I'm not going to do the BlackP. Too big. I'd like to think I would get a bigger tank for it, but no guarantee so I will wait. I am attached to my RBP, but it would cost a lot more just to get him two new tankmates (& I'd probably get 3or4) than it would to trade him in for store credit and get 5 new little ones.

There any other species that I should consider (that will stay about the size of an RBP)? There are GoldPs available too.
