anyone try to keep a School of Red Jewels?
i have a 180g that i had RD's growing out in and have sold them off now the tank is empty and i have just had a hatch of jewels from my wifes 55g. i was thinking abought growing them out big enuff to stock the 180 with anyone try keeping 20-30 of them together?

My guess is, if you get them to grow much larger than 3", you'll have one dominant one, maybe a dominant pair, and probably the rest being a bunch of torn fin scaredy cats.

They seem to be quite aggressive to their own kind, and at 3" they can start breeding.

cichlids don't really school. you'll end up with a bunch of breeding pairs, and the bachelors will likely be killed off or hide forever

yah i have had 2 pairs in differant tanks for a few years. dont know how this will work but we'll see i have a ton of driftwood for hiding and slik/plastic plants so i am gonna see how it works out .right now they ar in a 20glong till they are big enuff that they cant git in the overflows in the tank.its a reefready tank so hopefuly in around two weeks i'll get the pic's up when i transfer them.

what tank size are the jags in? :)
