Now that I gave away my Jack Dempsey, I could finally get schooling fish. What should I get? I have a regain dwarf pike and a pictus catfish so no fish too small. I saw tee barbs at my lfs, they seem interesting but can’t find much info on them. Any suggestions to schooling fish in a 45 gallon?

Cardinal Tetras / Harlequin Rasbora's / 2 small batches of Ember Tetras & Boraras brigittae ( 2 contrast colors), all of these species are non-aggressive ones. Having said this, it's a personal choice/very subjective, what you like to see & which schooling fishes makes you feel good.

Seeing the dwarf pike I would say any deep-bodied south American tetra, mini tetras/rasboras may get chowed. Congo tetras are nice too!

I saw these guys at the my lfs, tee-barbs, they are not that colorful it seems but active schoolers and big enough size to avoid being eaten. Anyone know any info on them? Will they grow too big/aggressive for my tank?
Congo tetras look nice and they have them at my lfs.

If they are spanner-t barbs than they will get too large. They actually get around 8" and pretty bulky. Fast, active fish that need a larger tsnk.

Mini like "Piranha" Exodon Paradoxus :)
You will never forget how they attack the food at feeding time! The down side you pretty much keep them as species tank only.
