I'm look for a schooling fish for my fh pair. Their in a 55. They haven't had any aggression towards the two danios that are in there. I would go with danios but I can't find them big enough. The biggest fh is the male which is about 6-7". What are some other ideas? I was thinking tiger barbs because they get to a good size and a awkward shape to eat when small. Something about 2-3" adult size would be perfect

If they are a pair they will destroy any tank mates when they start breeding. 55 is pretty small for 2 big cichlids, and beware silver dollars get a lot bigger than most people expect

I know it's small. But I'm trying to upgrade soon. They still have a little time though. They've been fine with the danios. So I'm willing to take my chances

If your going to upgrade I would wait and get something a little faster than danios like some rainbow fish theres tons to pick from that get decent size but put those guys in the tank first for a week before introducing the flowerhorn
