Got a Argentae I believe male ? Had a smaller one in my 185 tank but larger Argentae was tearing it up the smaller one. Was thinking I might have had a pair for this tank.

question has anyone had any sucess w/ a large school of smaller fish w/ this type of fish.

If so what type and how many. i am content on growing out the Argentae but thought it would be cool to have some schoolers w/ him.

thanks

Try some filament barbs get large and fast as hell. Adults look great when mature and they get that cool green sheen.

Putting a high bodied silver fish in with a high bodied silver fish that hates con-specifics? Not a great idea. I used giant danios for my male for a while with no issues.

i keep mine with silver dollars, and never had an issue.
they dont even bother them except to push each other out of the way for food.

also had a pair with red eye tetra's never had an issue there either.
with argentea its always trial and error, the only aggression mine show is to each other right after a water change(male gets a little frisky).
Mine are currently in a tank with 7 red hook silver dollars,a pair of chocolates and a pair of rythisma

But what works for some dosnt always work for other,as clockwork said you just have to try it.

I have 3 Argentea of equal size (7") they only show aggression towards each other. They share their tank with several other Vieja's and Paratheraps. Though most of the fish are of equal size, the Argentea are really only concerned with each other.

So I think anything of decent size will work for you.

I have my female argentea with 5 silver dollars (3 red hook & 2 regular). She really only reacts to them when they get into her little space.
