My 240 which will soon be whittled down to a pair of syns and maybe a small argentea. What and how many schooling fish would work in this setup?

In nature, they share waters with large shoals of live bearers like Velifora mollies and Gambusia, and/or Astyanax tetras.
Although the videos below, the cichlids are not Vieja melanura (AKA syns) it was taken about 20 miles north of where they are common, and would be representative of the species found in their natural habitat.
