I don't know all the scientific names for all the species of Silver Dollars, can any one list them for me please? LoL. I know they start with an M. Also, where the mess do I post this? They are Characins and all, but the closest thing is the Piranha forum, but it seems to be almost strictly piranha in there! :nilly:

Metynnis, Mylossoma and Myleus will cover most species if you follow up on these Genera.

PM Zoodiver, he is the Silver Dollar Master!

Well, they aren't really monster fish, lol....should change the Piranha section to Characin and have a seperate subforum for the Piranha in there...haha.

Thankz yaz oodles AM!! ;)

:iagree: . I am a big Characin fan and have the same problem sometimes...."Where to post this?"

I love my silver dollars !

The common silver dollar is Metynnis hypsauchen. The red hook is Myleus rubripinnis. The blackbarred silver dollar is Myleus schomburgki. The spotted silver dollar is Metynnis maculatus. That about covers the ones I see regularly or even infrequently.
