So my LFS has a scobina ray about 8 years old. The guy is looking to part with it and I definitely have room in my 400. My only concern is him being 8 years old. He is in great health, swimming around, the owner of the store always go too dropped massivore pellets in for him and he raced right to them and ate them all up
Now! He wants 450.. is that to much for a 8 year old.. I don't wanna scoop him and God forbid goes within a year. Looking for thoughts on tje ray experts

Or do I just go with one of his mini marbles that are young which are 550. He looks healthy as well but I do feel bad for the older ray lol

While I don't know anything about stingrays, from a monetary perspective, you could get a juvenile and ask him if would be willing to sell the old ray for like 300 bucks extra if you buy the baby ray so you could have both but this is only viable if you have the proper tank size and stuff*

Yeah I have a 8x4x3 so 2 rays would be no big deal. Maybe ill run that past him, I was just curious on life span I know 8 is pretty old

Rays can easily live 25yrs+… female rays are not even mature enough to breed until 4-6yrs. Sure, males mature a bit quicker at 2-3yrs but 8yrs is still a fairly young ray. Fair price IMO, scobina are not all that easy to come by.

That's awesome to hear, im going to pick him up Tuesday! He was so active and the fact that he was eating pellets so eagerly was nice to see. He will enjoy the extra space and the bottom of the big tank all to himself!
